The Fading Dusk was truly a great story! It has everything! There’s espionage, love, humor, lies and murder! Just when you think a street magician is just an ordinary guy… slight of hand, making a coin disappear, well, those days are gone! Meet Bantheir. On the surface, he’s your average street magician just trying to make a living, but if you dig a bit deeper… he’s hiding a deep dark secret! His secret is the ultimate betrayal… especially to Irina, his assistant and “adopted” daughter. Bantheir’s betrayal lands Irina in prison with some unlikely friends, like the charming and attractive Captain Leonid. He too, is not everything he seems. With all the secrets going on, who do you trust?

For me, this was quite the story, it begged me to use my imagination! The Fading Dusk is extremely well written, had me sitting on the edge of my seat and left me wanting more. It was nice to see Irina and Leonid drop their guards and bond. While romance wasn’t a big component to the story, it did help progress the story along. Irina started off meek and shy, but by the end she blossomed! I enjoyed this story and look forward to book 2 of the series!

I had high hopes with this book as I read Clockwork Menagerie first and loved it. It did not disappoint. SHADOWS OF ASPHODEL was action-packed from page 1 and did not let up! One of my weaknesses with heroes is a vulnerable, smart ass. I have that in Wendel! I love a strong heroine! Ardis has moments of me wondering “Why are we going through this?!”, but I lived for their interactions.

I will admit, in the beginning I had a hard time connecting with Ardis, but once you get her backstory, everything makes sense and you feel for her. With their troubled pasts, finding each other was the best thing that could happen to Ardis and Wendel. Add in Konstintine and best. story. EVER!

It’s a quick read with flawed characters that seek redemption and find love. I recommend to anyone that loves steampunk romance!

Warning: There is a bit of a sensitive subject matter of abuse. It’s not explicit, but it is an important element to the story.

We first meeet Nic in Luc, having a little fun at his brothers expense. In this story, you get a sense of Nic’s insecurities. You get the full extent and full understanding of why… and it’s truly heart wrenching. On one fateful night, Anna and her daughter, Lacey enter the Rossi’s restaurant after hours and meet Nic. Both Anna and Nic have experienced traumas in their lives and are extremely open to insecurities, but on different levels.

Anna and Lacey are on the run from Anna’s abusive ex-husband, Tony, and as a result, land themselves in Angel Bay. It’s a nice safe town and a great place to raise a family. As they get to know each other and grow close, love and danger is just around the corner. What do you do? Stand and fight for what you want? Or do you flee?

This is a charming story of love, loss, fighting for what you want in life, and having the courage to receive it. Anna starts off as a woman terrified of all men, especially Nic as there are physical similarities between Nic and Tony. As the story progresses, Anna grows strong and she not only finds her voice, she finds herself. Nic thought he could never love again. He let his guard down and amazing things happened!

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick love story!

Abandon whatever you are doing and read this book! Imagine being an exemplary student there ever was. You have your life planned out to the minute. You take a placement test for what you assume is a summer internship, only to find out it’s a secret organization and they want you to be an assassin. If you can imagine this, you’ve just met Starr! Starr shows you how much your life can change if just let go a bit! She would make a kick ass assassin… if only she wanted to be one! To help her escape from this is Christian. I need more Christian in my life! Tall, dark, handsome and mysterious! While he seems like he’s uptight in the beginning, when he comes to the rescue of Starr you really get to see him. He’s sweet, sensitive, understanding, and above all an absolute gentleman.

This book is targeted for a much younger audience than me (my age is not important… hahaha), but I truly enjoyed it. It’s such a quick paced book. you could easily read five or six chapters without realizing how much time has passed! The ending left me wanting more! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! Book 2 of this series needs to come to come out tomorrow!

Blows breath Where to start? Dane is a big shot chef who’s also a playboy. Pamela is his ever faithful assistant, especially when it’s revealed to Dane he has a daughter, Danielle, from a previous relationship. As expected, Danielle has a hard time warming up to Dane; Dane has a hard time relating to Danielle. Both are extremely comfortable with Pamela. BUT while Pamela has grown to love Danielle, she doesn’t want to be another notch on Dane’s belt.

Upside, Dane doesn’t want that either. Downside, this is a plot you’ve read before. After one night of passion, can things progress into a relationship or can they even return to normal? Pamela doesn’t tell Dane how she feels and Dane doesn’t know how. It was charming story, but I did find myself glossing over the narrative.

Overall it was enjoyable, but I can’t say I was blown away by it.

Imagine just once, Cinderella wasn’t the sweet innocent girl you read about in the fairy tales. She was a kickass heroine that didn’t sit around waiting to be saved.  If you can picture that, you have this book in a nutshell.

For ten years, Cinderella has been in training, waiting for her opportunity to extract revenge on her evil stepmother, Armenia, and what she has done to her family.  On one fateful night, while on a mission she encounters the prince, Braedon. He’s a bit of a charmer with a reputation. Together they will crush the evil magic that is trying to consume the kingdom.

Cinderella reminded me of Black Widow in the sense of not just being another pretty face. She’s tough as nails and has a soft spot, which doesn’t become her undoing in this story. Braedon grew the most as a character. He wasn’t the spoiled prince you’d expect. He got his hands dirty and he genuinely wanted to help. Cinderella being able to hold her own in a fight against him didn’t hurt! While there was romance, it wasn’t a main story line. It wasn’t deep in the background, but it was founded on admiration. This was a quick paced story that will keep you glued to your seat with the need to know what happens next.

I voluntarily reviewed an copy of this book.

Love Thy Neighbor ~ Kelly Moran

Title: Love Thy Neighbor
Author: Kelly Moran
Rating: 5 stars

When any book by Kelly Moran is available, I will jump at the chance! And I’m so glad that I did. Love Thy Neighbor is a charming, sweet story of what it means to find home. Josh is an army brat who flips homes. The one home he never thought he’d flip would be his grandfather’s. Marina is the ever so helpful and charming neighbor. St. Helena’s is a small town where everyone knows everyone, the sort of place that could make an army brat uncomfortable or find his place in life.

The interactions between Marina and Josh are endearing, charming and witty. It is a constant reminder home isn’t always a place. It can be a state of mind and often times, it can be the one you love. Hey, everyone’s attached to something!
