After trying to thwart her uncle’s plans to marry her off to someone she didn’t love, let alone like, Inis Fitzgerald runs away to London. After an interesting turn of events, Inis finds employment with Alexander Ashley, a self-proclaimed rake who has one agenda, seduce the women of the ton. He’s doing so well at this, there’s a club. However, as he gets to know Inis, he realizes she’s perfect for his scheme, teach Inis all about how to be a lady… just enough to fool the ton. Can she maneuver Alexander and complete his plan of being a “lady” long enough to carry out her own plan?

This was amazing and witty. Inis was her own person, and she wasn’t manipulative. I quite enjoyed Inis for the simple fact she wanted to live and love on her own terms. She spoke her mind without being disrespectful, which is why I also enjoyed Alexander. He encouraged Inis to be herself. When the two were together, they let their guards down and it was great. The chemistry… it wasn’t overpowering, but it was nice… subtle. The relationship started as employer and employee, however, it was nice to watch the relationship evolve to friendship to lovers. I enjoyed reading the wit, the mystery, the romance. It was well done.

Elsinore Cosgrove got more than she bargained for when she left the ballroom in search of Lord Byron. Quin Graham didn’t exactly sign up for a bride when Elsinore got her hand stuck in a guillotine, but hey everything happens for a reason, right? How to Train Your Baron is a delightful story of a young woman in search of adventure before having to be forced into a marriage she wouldn’t want, while a young man, who has experienced more tragedy than one should have to bear, tries to find redemption. Can they let down their guards and let each other in?

What I loved about this story is there was humor, love, and mystery. This was extremely well written, and you didn’t notice you were reading over 300 pages. While I understood Elsinore’s need for adventure, there were moments of, “Well, that was unnecessary…” but those moments set up scenes of hilarity. I would be interested in reading other books in the series, however many that would hold!

Grace Ellington escaped her country of England due to meddling people only to find herself in the Highlands, with just as many meddling people. They all feel like she needs a man to take care of her. As a result, Grace finds herself needing an adventure! Boy did she get one! A dear friend is expecting a baby and wants a familiar face around. Grace volunteers, but like everything else in her life… not goes according to plan. In her travels, she meets Keir, the Devil of Dunakin Castle. Only he’s not as he seems. His reputation DEFINITELY precedes him, but he really does have a heart of gold. The one problem, his brother is the chief and he’s become a tyrant. Keir, along with his childhood best friend, Brodie, has had to become creative in how Chief Rab’s punishments are carried out.

In the end, Grace is kidnapped by Keir and Brodie because they need a healer. His nephew, Lachlan, is severely sick and needs a healer desperately. Along the way, you fall in love with Keir. You get to see his true nature. He’s funny, charming, and completely endearing. On the flipside, he definitely lives up to his title, judging by his body. Because I’m me, when requesting this book, I didn’t realize it was the fourth book in a series. If you have read the first three, you already love Grace. I fell in love with her by the second chapter. She’s the epitome of a gentle English woman. Together, Grace and Keir not only balance each other out, but they also solve the mystery of what is going on with his clan.

It wasn’t hard to figure out who the villain was. This story was subtle and tender. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Heather McCollum is new to me. I was familiar with the name, but never read any of her work. After reading this, I regret only being familiar with her name and I look forward to reading more of her work!

There is something to be said for those who live their lives for others and those who live their lives based on what is expected of them. Both Rhys and Georgiana have such experiences, and it makes them crave what the other has. Georgiana has a title and a place in the world. Rhys has wealth and freedom. Naturally, it draws them together. All it took, a missing nursemaid. Georgiana only hires the best to look after her young Duke son, Nicolas. One day, while out in the park with Nicolas, she goes missing. Georgiana is convinced something has happened to her. When the runners on Bow Street can’t get you answers, you get answers from Rhys. But be forewarned, his help comes at a price! And you better be sure you can pay it! Oh, he doesn’t want money. He has enough of that already. You can pay him in secrets and favors.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a REALLY good historical romance and I’m glad I took a chance on this one! Stacy Reid is new to me and I fell in love with this book immediately. Rhys had the bad boy image while having a heart of gold. Don’t get me wrong, Rhys is a dangerous man, but never towards those who can’t defend themselves. Georgiana is no pushover! She must decide will she put her heart before the reputation of the family in a time where people can be unforgiving if you make the wrong move. I loved every moment of this book. Their chemistry was swoon-worthy and I needed more. I would love to have a book featuring a few of the secondary characters to see how everything ended for them. We shall see!

This is the second book in the series, and what I like is that it’s not a sequel to Burning Bright. It’s its own story and while it’s not technically a stand alone, it gives just enough backstory for you to keep up. This didn’t have quite the same world building as the first story, but it’s still enjoyable.

The War of 1812 is over and we meet Sophia Westlake, who has been dismissed from the British Navy under questionable circumstances, one might say. Sophia is a Seer. She doesn’t have visions, per se. She has Dreams. In the Dream in question, she saw Lord Endincott, a local popular politician, embezzling funds from the Army. He was able to disprove her Dream and he’s been tormenting Sophia ever since. She is determined more than ever to restore her reputation, but she has very few allies and one very powerful enemy. In her quest to restore her stellar reputation, she stumbles across something interesting. A counterfeit ring! Enter Mr. Rutledge. He has been keeping a close eye on Sophia from a distance. Mr. Rutledge has been tasked with ending the counterfeit ring before any further damage can be done. He’s going to need some help, but Sophia is reluctant. With each encounter with Lord Endicott, Sophia is positive he’s in charge of the counterfeit ring and is obsessed with proving it. Will Sophia get her justice, or will she become the person she hates to get revenge?

It was a nice game of cat and mouse with a hint of romance. The banter between Lord Endicott and Sophia, plus Mr. Rutledge and Sophia were great. For me, it may have been the best part of the book. It had a pretty strong storyline, it just felt like something was missing. I would very much like to see where the series goes from here. (Click the cover to purchase the book.)
