What do you do when you come home a little earlier than expected and you walk in on your boyfriend sleeping with his secretary? Get a fresh start… in Italy! That is exactly what CEO of a multimedia company, Elena Scott does. No return trip plane ticket. A fresh break is what the doctor ordered. While working as a barista, Elena meets Italy’s most eligible bachelor and billionaire, Leonardo Forte. He’s immediately taken with her. The problem is he doesn’t do relationships. He doesn’t believe he’s capable of loving anyone. Just think of what can happen if you can convince him he’s capable of loving and so much more… maybe, just maybe, he can show you how to live… I mean, truly live!

I honestly don’t know where to start, other than there’s a stalker… I don’t mean in just the book… I think I’m going to start stalking Caterina! I finished this in one sitting. I couldn’t get enough. Don’t get me wrong, there were moments of frustration and moments of anger, just from sheer misunderstandings… but I enjoyed this! Elena frustrated me with how she handled who she was. I get wanting to be anonymous, but after deciding you were going to start a relationship with someone… the least you can do is be honest. There were some characters written for you to purely hate them, and you will. The flip side is there are some really awesome characters to balance it out. The people who have become friends to Elena are TRUE friends. It will be interesting to see how the rest of this plays out due to this story ending in a cliffhanger. BUT… if you have a solid 90 minutes (at most), you’ll finish this in one sitting, and immediately move on the next one!

Wow! Just wow! After one hell of a cliffhanger, things get real very quickly! Katy is with the DOD, and Daemon will do anything to get her back… ANYTHING! This is quite possibly my favorite book in the series. You get dual POV, meet a slew of awesome characters, and one hell of a story! Hold on tight, this one’s gonna be a nail-biter!

As everything is happening, you find out some really disturbing things about what the government is capable of doing. Just when you thought there were only four species inhabiting the planet: Arum, Human, Hybrid, and Luxen, you find out there’s a fifth, Origin. Most disturbing is how they were created. But what makes it interesting is reading the previous three books and realizing where certain characters fall into place. As events unfold, triumphs and betrayals are revealed, can the gang prove they are up to the challenge of what happens next?

As always, the writing is impeccable. Every series has that one book where the tides have changed and in the next book, everything gets serious. Twilight had New Moon and Eclipse. Percy Jackson had Titan’s Curse and Battle of the Labyrinth. Harry Potter had Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix. For the Lux series, the tide changed in Opal and everything is getting very real now! Getting Daemon’s perspective was absolutely awesome! He is hilarious. His interactions with the additional characters were priceless! I am on to the finale of this series!

This series is amazingly awesome!

Grace Ellington escaped her country of England due to meddling people only to find herself in the Highlands, with just as many meddling people. They all feel like she needs a man to take care of her. As a result, Grace finds herself needing an adventure! Boy did she get one! A dear friend is expecting a baby and wants a familiar face around. Grace volunteers, but like everything else in her life… not goes according to plan. In her travels, she meets Keir, the Devil of Dunakin Castle. Only he’s not as he seems. His reputation DEFINITELY precedes him, but he really does have a heart of gold. The one problem, his brother is the chief and he’s become a tyrant. Keir, along with his childhood best friend, Brodie, has had to become creative in how Chief Rab’s punishments are carried out.

In the end, Grace is kidnapped by Keir and Brodie because they need a healer. His nephew, Lachlan, is severely sick and needs a healer desperately. Along the way, you fall in love with Keir. You get to see his true nature. He’s funny, charming, and completely endearing. On the flipside, he definitely lives up to his title, judging by his body. Because I’m me, when requesting this book, I didn’t realize it was the fourth book in a series. If you have read the first three, you already love Grace. I fell in love with her by the second chapter. She’s the epitome of a gentle English woman. Together, Grace and Keir not only balance each other out, but they also solve the mystery of what is going on with his clan.

It wasn’t hard to figure out who the villain was. This story was subtle and tender. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Heather McCollum is new to me. I was familiar with the name, but never read any of her work. After reading this, I regret only being familiar with her name and I look forward to reading more of her work!

The Decaying Empire ~ Laura Thalassa

Current Read

This is the second installment in “The Vanishing Girl” series. If you have not read book #1 (which I highly recommend!), then do not continue! (The review for “The Vanishing Girl” can be read here.)

So where to start! WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW! So we pick up with Ember reliving the last few moments before her mission goes awry. Betrayal is heavy. Someone purposely compromised Ember and it’s someone close to Caden. While Ember was in a coma, Caden spent the last 10 months grieving the loss of Ember… until she appears. As they continue their plans of escape, their plans get foiled or more complicated as they go…truly leaving you wondering “Who can I trust?” As they delve further into their plans, more enemies appear making escape that much difficult, but freedom that much sweeter!

The ending of the book left me wanted more. I need to know what happens next. While Caden was dealing with his betrayal, I was left thinking

But that betrayal was nothing compared to the betrayal Ember felt… if this was a physical book, I would have thrown it across the room. But as it was 6 a.m. and a book on my kindle, I decided it was just best to muffle my scream and use this gif instead… BetrayalI loved the ending and cannot wait to read the final installment!
