What do you do when you come home a little earlier than expected and you walk in on your boyfriend sleeping with his secretary? Get a fresh start… in Italy! That is exactly what CEO of a multimedia company, Elena Scott does. No return trip plane ticket. A fresh break is what the doctor ordered. While working as a barista, Elena meets Italy’s most eligible bachelor and billionaire, Leonardo Forte. He’s immediately taken with her. The problem is he doesn’t do relationships. He doesn’t believe he’s capable of loving anyone. Just think of what can happen if you can convince him he’s capable of loving and so much more… maybe, just maybe, he can show you how to live… I mean, truly live!

I honestly don’t know where to start, other than there’s a stalker… I don’t mean in just the book… I think I’m going to start stalking Caterina! I finished this in one sitting. I couldn’t get enough. Don’t get me wrong, there were moments of frustration and moments of anger, just from sheer misunderstandings… but I enjoyed this! Elena frustrated me with how she handled who she was. I get wanting to be anonymous, but after deciding you were going to start a relationship with someone… the least you can do is be honest. There were some characters written for you to purely hate them, and you will. The flip side is there are some really awesome characters to balance it out. The people who have become friends to Elena are TRUE friends. It will be interesting to see how the rest of this plays out due to this story ending in a cliffhanger. BUT… if you have a solid 90 minutes (at most), you’ll finish this in one sitting, and immediately move on the next one!

Just when Sheriff Jack Lang thought he found some normalcy, he gets a welcome to Destiny, Louisiana with a murder… and mail woman, Tempe, who seems to always be in the middle of everything. So not only do we have a murder to solve, but her brother, River, is also missing. There is an instant chemistry between Tempe and Jack. You are rooting for them to get together and be happy.

The writing is great and engaging. You find yourself feeling what Tempe feels and feeling as frustrated as Jack at every turn. You find you have more questions than answers with a few chapters left for this to be wrapped up with a not-so-pretty bow (this is a series for crying out loud!)… and dun, dun, dun… cliffhanger! Will Tempe and Jack finally get together? We must stay tuned! What I did enjoy were the dual POVs, although I wasn’t a fan of Dylan getting a chapter. I also loved this taking place in Louisiana. I thought it was the perfect setting for this genre. I enjoyed this story, but it left a lot of unanswered questions. However, it is noted on the Amazon page for this book… “These are not a stand-alones…”, but I will be staying tuned! This is a good start to a series.

As someone who gets really attached to my characters, I instantly fell in love with Silver and Valentin. When an alpha falls for someone, it is ill-advised to try and assassinate her! Valentin is a fun loving bear shifter with a heart of gold and going through strife about his broken clan. Silver is a strong and pure telepath who avoids emotions and practices “Silence”. It prevents her from hearing every mind in a certain radius. It kinda makes her an Ice Queen, but oh does she have a spark! But it’s a spark only Valentin notices. Per his usual, Valentin shows up to Silver’s apartment, unannounced… which would annoy anyone, but turns out to be a great thing! There’s an organization that wants the Trinity Accords (An agreement amongst the Psy, Humans, and Changelings to co-exists) to fail and the best way to do that would be to take out Silver. Not so fast! Valentin is there and Silver is his mate, she just doesn’t realize it yet. To protect her, she has to do the unthinkable. She has to live in the heart of Denhome, Valentin’s home.

This was my introduction to Nalini Singh and she had me captivated from the first page. Silver is a kickass, badass female lead. There were a few moments I felt myself get riled up on behalf of Valentin, but I was rooting for Silver as well. This book is close to 500 pages and I found myself practically reading this in almost one sitting. I’m not sure if this is a spin-off, but this is not a standalone story. However, it can definitely be read as one. It gives just enough information so you don’t feel lost. What I really loved was the integration of each race with each other. Silver’s interaction with other races was well detailed and showed a mutual respect between the races. Nalini Singh combats preconceived notices and biases with her writing and storytelling, so much that you can (if you choose to…) reflect on your own beliefs and biases. Ms. Singh’s storytelling is entertaining and compelling. She definitely knows how to pull on the heartstrings. When decisions are made and you have to deal with the fallout, you see where loyalties lie.

I look forward to reading more in this series, and can’t wait to go and start at the beginning!

Shifters, lions, love triangle, oh my! Victoria just cannot catch a break! Being a teenager has always been tough, but try being a teenager of an alpha lion… and you’re a hybrid. Sigh… Add a mom who just can’t deal with what you are and you don’t fit in with any crowd. Throw in Brandon, the hottest werelion you have ever seen and Victoria’s world is all topsy turvy! Victoria is spending Spring Break with her dad and her life gets a little more interesting. There’s a bat-shit crazy wolf, Bob, who truly believes she belongs with him as his mate. Brandon becomes her protector. Throw in Michael, a childhood friend and Victoria has a huge decision to make. Who is to be her mate?

There is so much going on, but the part that slightly annoyed me about Victoria was the constant “No one will want me because I’m a hybrid.” I completely understand her gripe, but it felt like it was on every page. I didn’t mind the love triangle, I was fine with Victoria’s choice either way since they were both great guys. The writing wasn’t bad, but there were a few typos… nothing major. While I was satisfied with the ended, I wasn’t thrilled with how we got there. Some things could have been explained that weren’t, but it would have made the story feel like it was dragging. Overall, I enjoyed the story.

Leana is a shifter who made one mistake in her past and now she’s paying for it. She cage fights for money to help her orphanage. Mikhail has no memory of who or what he is. What he does know, he wants Leana. Rohan is Leana human cousin who has fallen in with the wrong crowd. The book starts off with Leana in a cage match. You get a glimpse into her mindset, but as the book progresses her mindset changes and she becomes stronger. I love a strong female lead.

There are so many rich characters and elements to this story that you’ll have to read this twice to appreciate it all! There are vampires, shifters, and humans. Add to that, this book can cross so many genres. There’s mystery, thriller, romance, fantasy/sci-fi. What is awesome about this story is Ms. Hariharan gives just enough backstory without retelling previous stories. It’s easy to follow along without having to read the previous stories, however it’s written in such a way that you are intrigued in other characters… so you HAVE to read the previous books. Since I am NOTORIOUS for reading series out of order, I have some catching up to do. And it will be totally worth it!

There is something about a guy willing to risk everything to keep you safe. Jesse inadvertently put Kate’s life in danger, while they were both in danger of losing their hearts.

Kate is tough as nails and Jesse has a gruff exterior with a soft teddy bear interior. They balance each other very well. While they don’t agree very often on how things should be handled, both agree justice should be served. I didn’t quite predict the ending, which is awesome… but I wasn’t quite surprised by it either.

What Sheila Kell does is create a series that would be intriguing to read and find out the story of every member of HIS Protection. Would it be a long series, sure… but it would be TOTALLY worth it! (Click the cover to purchase!)

For 3 books we have been following Victoria “V” Price, indirectly. Each book making you more curious than the last about what her story could be. It is quite the story, indeed. Fifteen years ago, V accepted the marriage proposal from her high school/college sweetheart, Sam Fitzpatrick. After an injury derails his pro-football dreams, V made the toughest decision of her life. She left, with no warning. Both have spent the last 15 years trying to come to terms with the decisions that have led them to where they are, and neither ever thought their paths would cross again, until The Marauders need an offensive line coach. Sam is the perfect man for the job.

Two adults fighting their feelings, one hiding a deep, dark secret, a teenager with spunk and a reunion with some beloved characters equals quite possibly the best book in the series. This story starts off as a revenge plot, but as the story progresses it becomes a second chance story line. With some match making from GGG (Gracie’s Gridiron Girls), Lucy (Sam’s daughter), and Caroline (V’s and Sam’s boss)… V and Sam have no choice but to put their stubbornness to the side and learn to bend. This teaches you that you don’t always get a second chance. If you are fortunate enough to get a second chance, don’t waste it! If this is the end of the series, it ended on a high note and I am grateful to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review the series.
