There is something to be said for those who live their lives for others and those who live their lives based on what is expected of them. Both Rhys and Georgiana have such experiences, and it makes them crave what the other has. Georgiana has a title and a place in the world. Rhys has wealth and freedom. Naturally, it draws them together. All it took, a missing nursemaid. Georgiana only hires the best to look after her young Duke son, Nicolas. One day, while out in the park with Nicolas, she goes missing. Georgiana is convinced something has happened to her. When the runners on Bow Street can’t get you answers, you get answers from Rhys. But be forewarned, his help comes at a price! And you better be sure you can pay it! Oh, he doesn’t want money. He has enough of that already. You can pay him in secrets and favors.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a REALLY good historical romance and I’m glad I took a chance on this one! Stacy Reid is new to me and I fell in love with this book immediately. Rhys had the bad boy image while having a heart of gold. Don’t get me wrong, Rhys is a dangerous man, but never towards those who can’t defend themselves. Georgiana is no pushover! She must decide will she put her heart before the reputation of the family in a time where people can be unforgiving if you make the wrong move. I loved every moment of this book. Their chemistry was swoon-worthy and I needed more. I would love to have a book featuring a few of the secondary characters to see how everything ended for them. We shall see!

What I loved… it was very reminiscent to The Hunger Games, but with plot twists and turns. There was a lovely romance element that didn’t distract from the story. There was a good amount of greek mythology aspect to the book. I love that and it kept me drawn to the story. The world building was spectacular. Riser is quite possibly my favorite character. He’s a bit rough around the edges, but who doesn’t love a bad boy?

What I didn’t love… there were scenes that were too descriptive, which ordinarily isn’t a bad thing. It made the book feel like it was dragging. There were also times I felt like some scenes weren’t as descriptive as I would have liked. It took a bit of time to get into.

This was a great start to a series and I’m interested to see where it goes from here.

Quite the most charming story I’ve read in quite a while.

Keighley’s grandmother is a renowned fortune teller. She and her grandmother had different styles of reading fortunes and she’s quite lonely. She’s quite great at telling others what they need to hear, but you know how it is… you know what’s good for others, but not for yourself. In walks Connor Jakes, a journalist, dead set on exposing Keighley as a fraud. The problem… there was a spark.

I thought this was quite magical. Their interactions were beautiful. While everything between them was subtle, it was sweet. It was a fun read and I adored every minute of it.

What if you could see peoples death before it happened? What kind of person would you be? Would you try to stop them or would you walk away?  That was a decision Ela had to make when she was a child. She saw her best friend’s death and there was nothing she can do save her. So, she ran away… that’s what most people do when they’re scared. Fast forward and Ela is an adult with very limited contact with the outside world.  She sees the death of a child and decides she’s going to risk her sanity and save him… only it was too late.

As if things wasn’t interesting enough, we meet Luca, who is just as special as Ela, but different. He’s an empath trying to help save the world… but is he fighting for the right side? He believes he’s doing the right thing, fighting along side the Shades against the Wraithes. Can you tell who is on the side of truth and who is lying? That is the question Ela has to answer when she meets Talon, a Wraith… with a twist!

This book was amazing! You can easily read 17 chapters in one night before you realize what time it is! I was fascinated from chapter 1. You watch as Ela navigated her way through am unfamiliar world as she figures out who she can trust. The last couple of pages were devastating and I loved it. I found myself wanting revenge and I can’t wait to read the next installment!

Welcome back to Redwood! Oh how we have missed you! We get to catch up with town favorites, such as Cade and Avery, Flynn and Gabby, Drake plus Zoe… Can you smell the love in the air? For Zoe and Drake, it’s… well, complicated. Zoe has had a crush on Drake since they were teenagers, but as fate would have it Zoe’s best friend, Heather, acted first. I would say the rest was history, but there is way more to this story. Drake and Heather fall in love and marry, while Zoe sits on the sidelines and a be the great friend everyone knows she is.

Fast forward… Heather has passed away, Drake is living his life day-to-day without really living, and Zoe has put her life on hold to take care of her mother… but who is taking care of Zoe and Drake? Drake has always been great with doling out awesome advice when it comes to other people. Can he take advice when it comes to him?

Man does this story pull at your heartstrings! You know that Drake and Zoe deserve happiness and you want them to find it with each other. This story is charming, funny, and endearing. I had to fan myself when Drake started flirting… Hopefully the next book will be a “Where Are They Now?” and maybe even a Hallmark or Lifetime movie… I really need both of those in my life right now!

I requested this book because the synopsis was intriguing. The pace was a bit slow for me, but it was interesting. Once the pace picked up, boy did it! You have murder, magic, Egyptian mythology… INTRIGUE! BLOODY INTRIGUE!

The setting of Venice is beautifully described. I don’t tend to like books that have flashbacks, but this was so well done and it’s rare that the author gets it so right. It was amazing to see the thought process that went into everyone’s decision making, leading them to any particular moment.

Lucy is an amazing character and she’s a total badass. I loved her, even though at times she frustrated me. Carlos may have been my favorite character. There was something so pure about him, it made yippy want to protect him from all the dangers in the world. I’m still deciding on how I feel about Octavia. I loved her because she’s realistic, but I hate her because she’s realistic. Sign of great writing.

I can’t wait until the next installment!

Xander and Charlie are on separate missions that could come back to haunt them. They have known each other for a long time and Xander has loved her from the beginning. Coming together after Malcolm’s death is a perfect time to reveal your feelings for each other, but it may come at a cost. Someone is after Charlie due to her latest heist and someone wants revenge against Xander. Could they be connected? Can they help each other? Will love prevail? As they race against time to find out who is after them, their connection grows stronger and it’s beautiful to watch.

AJ Nuest can weave a story that hooks you from the first page. She has a way of bringing each character to life in a way you feel like you know them. You root for Xander and Charlie to not only bring down the bad guys, but to realize their feelings for each other. This is an awesome story that is beautifully told. I always look forward to hearing AJ has a new book coming out. This is the second book of the series and so far it’s my favorite one. There is a third book to this series, and if it’s half as good as this one, my day will be made!
