This is a modern rendition of Romeo and Juliet with a twist. Do you believe what happens in the past can and will effect your future? What if what happened was generations before you were born? What if a misunderstand stood in your way of happiness, and it was a misunderstanding before you or your parents existed? This is what Jack (June) and Saul are facing, and they decide to face it head on!

This story requires you to use a bit of imagination. There’s a hint of magical realism, which is beautifully executed. Each character served a purpose, even if you didn’t understand what their purpose was in that exact moment. This story is witty, whimsical, and fun. The writing is superb in a way the author creates such a spellbinding world, characters, story, and you can’t help but to get caught up in the whirlwind that is Jack and Saul.

I will be completely honest with you, this book won’t be everyone’s cup of tea… and that’s okay! Read this book with an open mind and a bit of imagination, and you’ll love this book as much as I do. I thought this was absolutely fantastic.

Kenny Gabriel is three years away from turning sixty, has forty-three quid in the bank and is occasionally employed to find people who would rather not be found. Broke, clientless and depressed, he knows things can’t get much worse. Then he’s summoned to the office of London media magnate Frank Parr, whose daughter, Harry, is missing—and there’s ten grand on the table to get her back.

It’s a lot of money, and God knows Kenny needs the cash. But he and Frank have a history he’d rather not revisit. Kenny worked for him in the seventies, when Frank was the head of a Soho magazine empire and owner of an infamous nightclub. And Kenny might still be working for Frank now—if he hadn’t witnessed his boss brutally torturing another employee.

Kenny suspects taking this job is a mistake, and he’s probably right. Because while he may be done with the past, the past is far from done with him.

You have to love a book that tells you upfront, the main character is a bit of a prick. He’s rude, obnoxious, a bit pretentious, and unapologetic. He, my dear friends, is Eddie Lancaster… and he’s in a bit of a pickle! Unfortunately for Eddie, he’s about to find out why all those character traits listed above is starting to be his downfall.

He meets Ashley Sheridan, who is in serious need of his services and is in trouble… Killian Myers, an extremely powerful man, wants her to make him invincible. She can’t do it alone. But what can you do when the one man you don’t want to help, can see your every move?

This was a fast-paced story, with action and humor on almost every page. The writing was great, but the narration was better. The narrator, Hans Hill, adds a personality to each character and brings them to life. This had just the right amount of humor and sarcasm, without it being overbearing and annoying. I found myself laughing out loud and thoroughly enjoying this story.

But I’m willing to take a chance.
I just hope like hell he’s worth the risk.

Nothing I love more than a dragon shifter with a heart of gold, who’s also badass! This is Nikolai’s story of how he became a Dragon King. After being asleep for an extremely long period of time, he awakes to help Esther recover some memories that were taken from her by a Druid. In the process of helping her uncover who stole her memories, she sees herself through Nikolai’s eyes and it is powerful. As an MI5 agent, she has to figure out if she’s really happy with her lot in life while fighting her severe attraction to Nikolai. Can they recover her memories, and will she like what she remembers? Will Nikolai stand with her no matter the outcome?

While I did enjoy the story, this cannot be called a stand-alone. It is a slight pet peeve of mine when it comes to books. I personally feel like if it is a part of a series, it should be labeled that way and where this book falls in the series. This book was under the “Read Now” section on NetGalley. The synopsis is what pulled me in. Thankfully, the story was easy to follow on who was who and what is their role, otherwise, I would have had to add this to my DNF list. There wasn’t a huge amount of backstory which is fine, but I can definitely see how others reading this, not knowing this is a series, could be confused. I did enjoy the book and it did make me interested in reading other books in the series, but it also brought about a lot of questions.
